Some time back, a friend and I started creating a Google map of BBQ joints we might want to visit in the future. The idea was that if we were traveling across the South at any given time, we could simply pull the map up on our mobile device and determine if we were in the vicinity of good food.

So, at Glen's urging, I am adding it to the Mint for all to see and use. I do not update it often but will try to do so when possible. I turned off the feature that allows anyone to edit for obvious reasons. But if you would like to suggest a spot, leave the name and address in the comments and I will be happy to add it.

TIP: Click on any of the pins or the names in the alphabetical list on the left. Once the card for that location appears, click on the 'View in Google Maps' link next to the star rating. This will open the location up in a new tab where more detail is available such as directions, pictures, etc.

NOTE: The map is only focused on the SE part of the country because that is where I am located. Please feel free to suggest places in other parts of the U.S. (or anywhere in the world for that matter) as long as it is not a chain and has excellent BBQ.

Excellent idea! There are a few new-to-me KC metro places I'll have to try out.

    One to possibly add:
    RJ's Bob-Be-Que Shack
    http://www.rjsbbq.com/
    5835 Lamar Ave.
    Mission, KS

Most of the BBQ is pretty standard, but they have amazing lamb ribs in case you have a notes field for order suggestions.

My last rotation was called the Great BBQ Rotation as my camera operator and I like us some good brisket!

    We hit:
    Franklins
    Louie Mueller's
    La BBQ
just to name three of the best in the Austin area.

We traveled to Lockhart for Blacks. We hit the small Mom and Pop joints. We did Rudy's (gas station BBQ...not anything like gas station sushi!)

In Kansas City last year we hit Joe's (also a gas station BBQ...again...no sushi in sight!).

I've found some hole-in-the-wall places like Old House in Flower Mound, TX to have some great Q. And some chains (Salt Creek) to be not so great.

Enjoy the Q my friends. Enjoy the Q!
